FAQ
Can I ride my mountain bike or fat bike?
Heck yeah! You may be a bit slower on the pavement but you probably know that and are ok with it.
While our route designer is a nut job who regularly rides gnarly stuff on narrow tires, we recommend 35mm+ due to the variable terrain on the 2.5 miles of unmaintained roads. Optimal width is about 38-40mm with some knobbiness.
When can I get the route?
Look at the Route page. Here’s the elevation profile:

Will there be a rest stop? What will be offered?
No. The ride is self-supported and self-routing. Ride at your own risk.
I like to take my time on these kinds of rides. How long do you think this route will take if I start at 10am?
Under optimal conditions, the minimum average moving speed to finish by 3pm is 9 mph.
Under conditions that require significant slowing/walking in the unmaintained section, the minimum average moving speed to finish by 3pm is 10 mph.
This is more than my legs can handle. Do you have a bailout?
Yes! You can bail onto the pavement from the intersection of Sunken Mine and Dennytown (cuts about 10 miles/1,000′ climbing) or on dirt at the bottom of an awesome dirt descent, Indian Brook and Old Albany Post Rd (cuts about 7 miles/700′ climbing).
How much is the ride?
FREE99. This is not a formal ride. Go out, have fun, be safe. Don’t piss off the landowners or any equestrians or hikers. Thanks for being a good ambassador for gravel!
Your logo is rad – have any merch?
Our logo was designed by STR Designs & Dev. Check out the sweet beanie and sticker that was sent to everyone who registered when it was an event back in 2020!
